Languages

While we fully recognise, as you see, English to be the language of the Internet community, Studio Legale Sutti strongly opposes “anglo-monoglottism” in business.

Besides involving a loss of cultural richness and diversity, the systematic use of English during international contacts between non-English mother-tongue individuals has a number of inconveniences, not the least of which being the uncertainties and lack of precision related to using a “third language” and to discussing civil law concepts in a language natively spoken almost exclusively in common law countries.

If you are not English, Scottish, American, Australian, etc., we therefore encourage you to use in contacts with SLS’s members, every time this is possible and practical, your native language instead; as a second choice, Italian, if you are conversant and comfortable with our language; then another language of continental Europe which is commanded well enough by both parties.

Correspondence may be currently addressed to the Firm in the following languages:

  • Italian
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Japanese
  • Spanish
  • Romanian
  • Bulgarian
  • Serbo-Croat
  • Russian

Furthermore, some of our members have a basic knowledge of Portuguese, Finnish, Galician, Swedish, or Dutch/Flamish.

General information about our practice in a number of languages other than English is linked from the pages describing the policy above in the language concerned.
